Participatory Workshop: Unbias the News – Why Diversity Matters for Journalism
Hostwriter and the Bosch Alumni Network are hosting a participatory workshop that combines lightning talks with a fishbowl discussion, inviting the audience on a journey of discovering the effects of unconscious bias and prejudice in journalism. We’ll share key insights from Hostwriter’s collaborative book project Unbias the News: Why diversity matters for journalism, including lessons learned by a diverse range of journalists from our global network who have seen first-hand how bias, discrimination and “the view from nowhere” can shape news coverage for the worse.
Panelists include Hostwriter Ambassadors Mercy Abang and Wafaa Albadry, as well as Hostwriter’s Tina Lee, who was editor-in-chief of Unbias the News. Why diversity matters for journalism. Zahra Salah Uddin, Head of Engagement at Hostwriter, will serve as the guide through the interactive fishbowl discussion.
The event is free, but you do need to register in advance here. Please note, this discussion will be in English.
