With more than 2,500 submissions in two categories, Hostwriter has made it into the top ten “lighthouse projects” in the Google Impact Challenge Germany. By reaching the finals, we will receive an award of €250,000. But this announcement is just the start – now we need your vote!

The Google Impact Challenge is a sponsorship competition for nonprofit organizations and associations. It seeks out ideas that improve the work of the organizations concerned with the help of digital technology or other creative approaches. The diverse jury included celebrities like former German professional tennis player Steffi Graf, journalist Dunja Hayali and media activist Raúl Aguayo-Krauthausen.

With the funding from the Impact Challenge award, Hostwriter will focus on:

  • Global Diversity: Reaching more journalists from all continents
  • Ambassadors: Connecting Hostwriter ambassadors at a physical networking Summit
  • Technology: Relaunch mobile-first and develop better communication tools

From 18 May – 6 June, the public can now vote on the overall winner of the Impact Challenge.

This receives additional funding of €250,000, for a total prize of €500,000. Hostwriter CEO Tabea Grzeszyk says if the organization is selected as winner of the additional €250,000, Hostwriter will “go truly global”:

  • Crossing Borders Across Continents: We will organize a cross-border collaboration program like our “Agora Project“ on all continents!

We need your vote: Please support our efforts to raise the quality of media coverage through improved cross-border journalism.
